7 Ways to Optimize the SEO of Your Website In-depth
Search engine optimization, or SEO of Your Website, can feel like an overwhelming topic at first glance, but the basics of it are actually pretty simple to understand.
When you properly optimize your website to rank well on search engines, more people will be able to find your site and read your content, which leads to better branding and more traffic in the long run. Here are seven ways to optimize the SEO of your website.
1) Web design
We may be living in a mobile-first world, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore your desktop site. If it looks good on desktop, then it will look even better on mobile.
And if you want Google and users to take your site seriously (and thereby increase traffic), you’ll need solid SEO—optimizing your site so that when someone searches for a keyword related to your product or service.
Google knows what page they’re looking for and delivers them right there. While each piece of SEO can be improved upon, here are seven essential elements worth optimizing: URL structure Keyword prominence Keyword usage Titles Meta descriptions Image tags Internal links.
2) Page content will help with the SEO of your website
The first step to optimizing your SEO is knowing where you rank. If you aren’t sure how well your site is doing, search for it using Google. You check out this Monthly-Content membership.
Results that appear at or near the top are likely sites with better SEO than yours. Once you know what your rankings are, figure out where they stand in relation to competitors and determine whether optimization would have an impact on traffic levels.
3) Meta tags will help the SEO of your website
Meta tags, which can be found in HTML source code, act as keywords that tell search engines what your page is about. When you write meta tags, think: what information is my target audience looking for when they search?
What are they likely to type into a search engine? Although meta tags might have been more relevant back in 2010 than today—search engines have moved on and largely ignore them.
As a result, optimizing your website’s meta tags isn’t really worth it anymore. Instead, focus on crafting valuable content that delivers answers to your visitors’ most pressing questions. Search engines will take notice and reward you with higher rankings in SERPs (search engine results pages).
4) Internal links
A surefire way to optimize your SEO is by including internal links within your website. Internal links are hyperlinks that appear on one page of a website and then lead directly to another.
The idea is that if you create a website that provides value for users, you’ll want them to keep browsing your site (and hopefully returning for more) so, naturally, it’s important for visitors to find what they’re looking for—fast.
And, by using internal links on each page within your site, visitors will be able to quickly jump from section to section without having to click through any unwanted web pages in between. Additionally, don’t forget about breadcrumb navigation systems.
5) You need Keywords to help with the SEO of your website
By default, your website probably doesn’t include all (or any) of your primary keywords. This can hurt its ability to show up in search results, which is why it’s important to optimize your site’s SEO.
The first step is getting a list of all keywords related to your product or service. You can do that with Google’s Keyword Planner tool. Then, keep these tips in mind. 6) Search engine submission
Search engines are constantly getting smarter. They learn from your searches and what others search for, so it’s important that your website has a strong presence with good content. Without optimizing your website for search engines, you won’t get as many visitors and will have a more difficult time ranking high in SERPs (search engine results pages).
When you create an account on Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, you can enter meta tags, specify a preferred domain and submit a sitemap. You should also make sure you have high-quality content on each page; duplicate or outdated material can really hurt your SEO efforts.
Links are a crucial component in search engine optimization. Backlinks (links from external websites pointing back to your site) play a large role in whether or not your website will rank well for different terms. Once you’ve established a significant amount of incoming links, it’s important that those links come from relevant websites. If you can optimize how and where your website is linked, you’ll see an increase in rankings for relevant keywords. Keyword research is an incredibly useful way to find opportunities for backlinks and optimize SEO across your entire website.
