7 Things Every Affiliate Marketer Must Know

Whether you’re just getting started with affiliate marketing or you’ve been at it for years, there are always new things to learn about the industry. As someone who has been in the affiliate marketing business as long as I have. I thought I’d offer my own 7 things every affiliate marketer must know.

This list isn’t exhaustive, but it will help you get started and avoid some of the most common mistakes that people new to the game tend to make.

1) Set clear goals

One of the many reasons affiliate marketing is so appealing is because it’s so dynamic. Once you become an affiliate marketer, you can promote just about anything you want. But before that happens, set clear goals.

It’s important to know what your end game is—whether it’s to make a certain amount of money or to attain a certain number of customers.

Without these parameters in place, you risk wasting time and effort on things that won’t matter in five years. And if you don’t have any specific goals for yourself, how will you ever know when you’ve achieved them?

Make sure your goals are measurable. For example, if your goal is to earn $1 million dollars within five years, make sure each month (or quarter) has its own numerical target.

That way, when December rolls around and year-end totals come in at $900K instead of $1M, you’ll still be able to celebrate success.

So what should my first product be? This is one of those questions that really stumps people when they first get started with affiliate marketing.

The truth is there isn’t a right answer – there are only options for different types of products based on which niches interest you most.

2) Every affiliate marketer must know to learn from thier failures

The most important point about affiliate marketing is to accept that failure is an option. Many new affiliates are drawn in by promises of getting rich quickly or making a fortune with little effort, but as any experienced affiliate marketer knows, neither of these goals is realistic.

The old saying, What you don’t know can hurt you, has never been more true than it is when it comes to affiliate marketing.

You may not even be aware of some of the mistakes you’ve made when promoting different products until years after they’ve happened.

However, instead of allowing past failures to discourage and dishearten you now, simply treat them as valuable learning experiences and move on to try something else! After all, what do you have to lose? I did not fail because I started to earn commissions here straight away.

3) Don’t give up

Things Every Affiliate Marketer Must Know

When you first start affiliate marketing, you’ll likely have to put in a lot of time and effort before you see results. Be prepared for that.

The right affiliates don’t give up; they know that it will take some time to get where they want to be, but they are willing to put in the work now and reap their rewards later.

If you’re not sure if affiliate marketing is for you, try it out by creating an account on an affiliate network like Commission Junction or ClickBank.

You can sign up for free as a publisher and create your own links to products from these sites. If it works out well, great! If not, try something else! But keep at it because if you don’t try affiliate marketing now, when will you?

4) Look for mentors

Having a mentor is a surefire way to fast-track your success, as someone who’s been where you want to go can provide a wealth of knowledge and advice about how to successfully enter affiliate marketing.

Make sure you choose wisely though—you don’t want to wind up learning all of your tricks from someone whose tactics aren’t good or even legal!

Look for someone with experience in affiliate marketing and plenty of recommendations (like on their website).

Also, make sure they have an established reputation; it will be much easier to trust them if they are well known in their field. If you would like FREE mentorship from me,just fill out this form and I’ll get you started.

These networks match advertisers with affiliates who promote their products on their websites. They take a cut of each sale, but they make it easy for you to set up your account and start promoting right away.

Many networks offer free starter kits full of banners, text links, e-mail swipes, and other promotional materials that can be used immediately.

Once you sign up for a network, they’ll provide basic instructions on how to create ads using their system; most also offer tutorials on how affiliate marketing works.

6) Identify the problems you will face

One of the first problems that new marketers will face is deciding how to identify their target market. There are two different types of online marketing strategies: affiliate marketing and inbound marketing.

They both work differently, but identifying your target market is one problem that you’ll always have.

If you don’t pick your target correctly, then you won’t get anywhere in life as an affiliate marketer. It doesn’t matter what method of affiliate marketing you use if you aren’t hitting your goal properly.

You might be able to go around with bad target markets for a while, but it won’t help your business grow in any way shape or form.

If you’re just starting out as an affiliate marketer, connecting with someone else who has experience in that field can help you avoid common mistakes.

People might be too busy to answer all your questions, but they’ll almost always be happy to help point you in a productive direction.

Whether it’s training courses or other resources, experienced marketers know where there are free (or affordable) resources available to people just starting out in a niche.
